IDBI Bank inks MoU with UIDAI, becomes registrar for Aadhaar project
IDBI Bank today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under which the public sector lender will become a Registrar for Aadhaar project.
As per the MoU IDBI Bank will set up a core team to oversee the implementation of UID Project in the identified places/districts, alongwith constituents, technology providers, BC Service Providers and other associates of IDBI Bank, the Bank said in a statement here.
The Bank said it plans to dovetail its Financial Inclusion Plan with the UID enrolment for new customers.
It will also facilitate issuance of Aadhaar number for its existing customers which will enable the Bank to deploy Aadhaar based services across various delivery channels like ATMs and Micro ATMs, the statement added.
‘With the signing of MoU, the Bank is partnering in the efforts of UIDAI for issuing Unique Identity Numbers to the residents of the country. As a Registrar, the Bank will enroll residents in the UID Project and assist the Authority in the various stages of the Project,’ said IDBI Bank CMD R M Malla.
